Keowee Key man found dead near lake

September 29, 2013

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis says a 75 year-old resident of Keowee Key was found dead late Saturday night. Addis says the body of Robert Bruce Graffis, of Lead Line Way in Salem, was discovered on Lake Keowee at a boat ramp on Marina Drive, within the Keowee Key development. Addis says the man appears to have died in the process of launching his fishing boat to store at a nearby boat slip. Police say Mr. Graffis was reported missing by his wife at approximately 6:45 PM Saturday. The wife told authorities her husband left home in the afternoon to return his fishing boat to a slip at the marina. The man’s boat was found along the shoreline at 9:25 PM and the dive team located his body at 10:15 PM, in approximately 10-15 feet of water. Addis says an autopsy will be done Monday to determine the cause of death.
