Keowee Key man recognized by AARP

Keowee Key resident Harry Wertheimer has been recognized by the American Association of Retired Persons for teaching safe driver classes that attracted the highest, average number of participants in South Carolina. Wertheimer recently instructed two classes at Keowee Key and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Clemson that attracted more than 30 students. The new AARP Smart Driver course is aimed at older drivers, but can benefit drivers of all ages. It stresses the physical changes in drivers as they age, changes in the vehicles they drive, and changes on the roads and highways. The next class is tentatively planned for May 22. The cost to attend is $15 dollars for AARP members and $20 dollars for others.
