Kickoff fundraiser is Tuesday

Walhalla hopes for a swell evening for its kickoff event at 5 p-m Tuesday to raise as much as $30 thousand toward the swimming pool restoration project. Councilmen Deek Biemann and Tjay Bagwell and others are asking the weatherman for a pleasant autumnal evening and that the spirit of partnership will prevail, as attendees enjoy free hor d’oeuvres, wine, and music in the green space behind the Earle House. Raising $30 thousand by Thanksgiving may sound like an ambitious goal, but Bagwell says it’s a small part of what’s really needed to get the closed municipal pool back into working order for the 2013 season. For those who donate from $100 dollars up to $1 thousand, they will be entitled to a pool towel, an invitation to the season opening, and pool passes for single persons, for the summer, or for life, depending on the size of your donation. Bagwell makes clear that the fundraising effort will accept donations of any size. They are being accepted at City Hall, through the Walhalla Partners for Progress, POB 815, Walhalla, SC 29691, and by visiting any one of Walhalla’s four banks where you can “Fill Our Pool” displays.
