Lady Gamecocks set for NCAA Tournament

The women’s NCAA basketball tournament field was announced on Monday, and defending champion Baylor, along with Connecticut, Notre Dame and Stanford, all earned Number One spots, the first time the same four teams got the four top seeds in consecutive seasons. The tournament will get underway on Saturday. South Carolina’s women’s basketball team (24-7) earned a No. 4 seed in its 10th berth in the NCAA Tournament and will face Summit League champion, 13th-seeded South Dakota State (25-7) on Saturday, March 23, at 4:10 p.m. ET, with the contest set to be televised on ESPN2 at the Boulder, Colo., site in the event’s opening round. The Gamecocks are in the Norfolk Region. Host, and fifth-seeded Colorado and No. 12 seed Kansas will square off in the other game at the site with the winners meeting on Monday, March 25, with the time for that contest to be announced. South Carolina owns a 10-9 record all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
