Lake Jocassee a cleaner place today!

At Lake Jocassee, there’s an inside joke that goes something like: How do you clean a place that’s one of the cleanest places to begin with? The answer for Brooks Wade and others is one day a year to comb the lake and shoreline to scoop up trash and litter that make for eyesores. Wade and the rest of the volunteers did just that Saturday and were able to fill up as many as 130 bags. “Kind of what you would expect,” Wade said. “Beer cans, Styrofoam cups, personal trash,” he said. This time the lake volunteers were aid by about 20 kayakers who were able to get into areas to retrieve trash visible to the eye, but difficult to reach.
