Lake Levels Lowered

July 9, 2013

Heavy Rains have prompted the US Army Corps of Engineers to begin releasing stored floodwaters from Hartwell, Russell & Thurmond lakes.  Inflows from the recent rainfalls has pushed the levels into the flood stage. Water managers have directed the release of water through the spillway gates at Hartwell dam to lower the reservoir to below 665 feet. As of noon today, Hartwell was a 664.8 feet.  More rain is forecast for the area.
