Lake lovers issue a 2014 challenge

December 30, 2013

IMGTo help its residents stay fit and healthy, the state of South Carolina sponsors ‘1st Day Hikes’ and other activities to get people out of the house and moving. State park trails are relatively short, though not without some challenges, but easy enough to walk in about one hour at a leisurely pace. Brooks Wade and other lovers of Lake Jocassee have resolved that they’ll be at Devil’s Fork State Park New Year’s Day for a polar bear plunge in the water and to help the Friends of Jocassee with a 5-K run. They are expecting better weather than New Year’s Day 2013 and a contingent of TV cameras to record the brave souls who’ll enter the chilly waters of Jocassee as a way to welcome 2014.
