Large inflatables no longer allowed on Duke lakes

Duke Energy Lake Services announces that no longer are large recreation inflatables permitted on the lakes within the Keowee-Toxaway project. Shore management guidelines required by the federal government and arrived at thru negotiations with stakeholders now forbid the use of recreation equipment such as trampolines, slides, and diving boards. Those kinds of inflatables can block navigation access and raise aesthetic objections. Last summer Duke Energy offered lake users a grace period and permitted the inflatables through Labor Day. That period, however, has ended. If Duke representatives identify prohibited large inflatables, the homeowner will be notified that the equipment must be permanently removed. Not affected by the announcement and still allowed are smaller water toys used primarily with moving watercraft, such as ski and inner tubes, along with towables for three people or less.
