Last day for testimony!

Judge Cordell Maddox says this is the last day for testimony in Reynolds versus Sava Senior Care in the Oconee Common Pleas Court. Now nearing the end of three weeks, the trial alleging medical malpractice at a nursing home near Seneca is the longest in Oconee in six years. In 2008, a lawsuit about a fire and explosion at a manufacturing plant required two trials that stretched six weeks. Among the final witnesses in the current trial is Gail Hunter, an eight-year employee at Seneca Health and Rehabilitation. She worked in a variety of jobs, some of which had her caring for Dorothy Reynolds, the late mother of plaintiff Russell Reynolds III. Answering questions from defense lawyer Lori Proctor, Hunter said she never falsified entries onto Dorothy Reynolds medical records, nor did she believe any of her fellow employees would do such a thing. Proctor led Hunter thru a series of questions about how much food Reynolds consumed on a daily basis in the months prior to her death in 2011. One of the plaintiff’s contentions in the case is that a contributor to Reynolds death was mal-nourishment. Should all trial testimony finish by this evening, the court expects the lawyers closing arguments to start tomorrow morning.
