Lawmaker, so far, no fan of roundabouts

An Oconee state lawmaker concedes there is still more to learn about a new concept for intersections. But, at this point, Senator Thomas Alexander is unsure about whether the time, effort and money will be served by converting some of South Carolina’s intersections into roundabouts. In roundabouts, four yield right of way signs replace stop signs or traffic lights for a circle of traffic. The DOT has approved construction next year of Oconee’s first roundabout. But Alexander says right now he considers roundabouts to be a fad.
