Lawsuit remindful of scene in Deliverance

December 20, 2012

Allegations contained in a lawsuit filed in the Oconee Common Pleas Court are remindful of a scene from the movie “Deliverance.” Early in the movie that debuted 40 years ago there’s a scene of wild driving by the character played by Burt Reynolds as Reynolds drove fellow co-star Jon Voight toward the Chattooga River. But, in real life, another man riding in the bed of a pickup truck seeks damages from the truck driver, as the result of the truck hitting a large tree. The real-life accident is alleged to have occurred in June 2011 as the pickup truck, bound for the river, left a paved road for a gravel road. According to the lawsuit allegations, the accident occurred even though the man riding in the bed of the truck and another passenger demanded that their driver stop driving erratically.
