Leadership Class at work at “We Care”

On this Day of Service on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, members of Leadership Oconee are pitching in to make better a valuable part of the Westminster community’s efforts to help the needy. Leadership President Brandy Taylor and other class members are helping renovate the old building that is used by We Care, the non-profit food and clothing pantry at 610 S. Piedmont Street. “We have built shelving, we’ve removed all the carpeting, cleaned the walls….We’ve painted, we’ve organized,” Taylor told 96.3/WGOG NEWS.” According to Taylor, the project is a natural for her class because it enhances a service which hundreds of people rely on each week. Virginia Stubbs and Alinda Holmes Ewing founded We Care in the late 1970s. Today it is run by two members of the 7th Day Adventist Church—Tom and Opal Peurifoy.
