Learn about the new health exchange

South Carolina’s leaders rejected a state-facilitated health insurance exchange for their constituents. But that doesn’t mean that a South Carolinian, without insurance, can’t sign up for a federal subsidy to help pay their premium once Obamacare takes effect. Oconee Medical Center is partnering with other health care providers to promote a pair of meetings for information about buying insurance beginning October 1. Heather Goss, executive director of Mountain Lakes Access Health in Oconee, says, “We want to encourage uninsured adults in the Upstate to come learn about the new Federally Facilitated Health Insurance Exchange, then make plans to enroll in an affordable health insurance plan that best suits their needs….” Qualified health insurance navigators will be present to help people learn about the new insurance plans and how to enroll. The meetings take place Monday, October 7 at Seneca’s Gignilliat Community Center and Tuesday, October 8 at the Anderson County Library. Both meetings start at 6:30 p-m.
