Legionnaires announce scholarship winner

The Walhalla American Legion proudly announces its 2016 Scholarship recipient is Kimberly Gibson (left) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, the granddaughter of Walhalla Post member Randy Gibson of Walhalla.  Post spokesman Jerry Dyar says Kimberly has enrolled at Fayetteville Technical Community College in the upcoming freshman class where she plans to study Elementary Education.  Dyar said, “Our post scholarship program is open to any qualified child or grandchild of any of our post members in good standing for at least two (2) years.  We are delighted to assist with the continuing education effort of children/grandchildren of our members.  The $1,000 dollar scholarship will be made available to the student for any school-related expenses”.
