Let’s hope Santa doesn’t mind the rain

December 5, 2013

The annual Westminster Christmas Parade is planned for 6 o’clock tonight. One of the units in the parade will consist of the members of the newly-formed Walhalla Fire Department’s Explorers Post. The members are youngsters who are learning about fire fighting and fire protection. And Walhalla Chief Doug Kelley hopes the experience will whet their appetites to consider a career in fire fighting. At 5:30 this evening the Westminster Fire Department and Oconee Emergency Services invite the public for open house at 216 Emergency Lane—one block behind Hardee’s Restaurant. There’ll be safety demonstrations and family activities—including coffee, hot chocolate, popcorn and other snacks and a visit from Santa Claus. You can park at the Westminster Fire Station and walk the one block to the parade.
