Lexington motorcyclist files OC lawsuit

The South Carolina DOT, Oconee County, and ABC Paving company have all been named defendants in a lawsuit filed this week for a motorcyclist near Columbia. The plaintiff in the case is Stephens Ribbe, a Lexington County resident. According to the pleadings, Ribbe was riding a motorcycle September 11, 2011 in Oconee County on S.C. 28/the Highlands Highway. There, it says, he encountered a curve and loose gravel on the highway which caused him to lose control of the motorcycle and wreck. The lawsuit claims Ribbe was left with broken ribs and broken collarbone, among other injuries. It claims that no flagmen were present, nor were there any highway cones to warn of the loose gravel. Ribbe seeks damages of an unspecified amount.
