Libraries to line up for the new penny tax

Chairman Danny Day of the Oconee Library Board of Trustees says library projects countywide, not just one in Seneca, should be considered as beneficiaries of a one-cent local sales tax—in the event voters say yes during what’s expected to be a referendum one year from now. It’s not a matter of if the county libraries will apply, it’s a matter of when. “We’ve got plans for each one, including the new Seneca branch, as well as updating the Walhalla and getting a Salem and a lower part of the county new library and then we have plans in Westminster already in the works,” Day told 96.3/WGOG NEWS.
