Library parking to be repaved

Those visiting the Walhalla branch of the Oconee Library next week are being asked to exercise both caution and patience, as a private contractor re-surfaces the parking lot. Officials say the library will stay open during the project, but those driving there will likely have to find alternate parking on the street. The parking lot will be closed starting at 6 p-m Wednesday, October 16 and remain closed until Monday, October 21. Mack Kelley, public works director for Oconee County, says the re-surfacing job has been contracted to King Asphalt of Liberty. It’s believed it’s the first time the parking lot has been re-covered since the library opened in the late 1979.
