Lightning inflicts damage

Friday night’s storm, packing thunder and lightning, caused heavy damage between Walhalla and Westminster. 963.WGOG NEWS has learned that seven prized cows were killed by a lightning strike at a farm off the Coffee Road. Those cows are estimated to be worth thousands of dollars. Lightning also caused damage to a cooling unit at Crossroads #2 Baptist Church near Westminster. Between 7 and 8 the storm dumped more than an inch of rain at the nearby weather station maintained by Barbara Wilson, the official weather observer in Walhalla.
