Lightning strike starts fire

April 12, 2013

A bolt of lightning at midnight started a fire in an out building in Mountain Rest, on the Village Creek Road. Last night’s thunderstorm and lightning brought down trees in various parts of Oconee County, but most roads are said to be passable this morning.  One exception is the road leading to the manned convenience center off the Old Clemson-Seneca Highway.  A tree and power line fell there during the storm.  And the convenience center has delayed opening this morning.
