Lucas stresses the value of a good night’s sleep

The Oconee superintendent of education often uses a story to illustrate how to get a better education. Dr. Michael Lucas heard a story yesterday that confirms what many mothers know: “Children who have irregular bed times are more likely to have behavioral issues than children who have a regular bedtime routine.” On his blog today, Lucas quotes a study of 10 thousand children as showing that irregular and inconsistent bedtimes have the effects of jetlag, and there’s evidence of increased hyperactivity, acting out and being emotionally withdrawn.
