Macaulay to lead Veterans Day parade

A man regarded as one of Oconee’s highly regarded citizens will lead this year’s Veterans Day Parade in OconeeCounty.  The selection of Alex Macaulay of West Union, who retires in January as a circuit court judge, as Grand Marshal for this year’s parade is being announced by Jerry Dyar, public information officer for the Oconee Veterans Council.  This year’s parade will run through downtown Walhalla Tuesday, November 11.  Dyar says as a distinguished jurist, a former state senator, and a Vietnam veteran, Macaulay has earned the title of one of Oconee’s highest regarded citizens.  Soon there will be observances of the 50th anniversary of the start of the Vietnam War—a war in which Macaulay served as an Army combat medic.
