Major League Baseball Playoffs

On Sunday, the Washington Nationals beat the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 in St. Louis to take the first game of their best-of-five National League Division Series. Game 2 will be played Monday in St. Louis. The Cardinals made it to the NLDS by beating the Atlanta Braves 6-3 on Friday in a one-game wild card playoff that was added to the post-season schedule this year.  The Cincinnati Reds blanked the San Francisco Giants 9-0 in San Francisco to take a 2-0 in their best-of-five National League Division Series. Game 3 will be played Tuesday in Cincinnati.  The Detroit Tigers defeated the Oakland A’s 5-4 in Detroit to take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five American League Division Series. Game 3 will be played Tuesday in Oakland.  The New York Yankees downed the Baltimore Orioles 7-2 in Baltimore to take a 1-0 lead in their best-of-five American League Division Series. Game 2 is tonight in Baltimore. The Orioles made it to the ALDS by beating the Texas Rangers 5-1 Friday in a one-game wildcard playoff that was added to the post-season schedule this year.
