Man befriended by church charged with theft

A 27-year old man befriended by a church near Seneca has been arrested and charged with stealing church property.  Oconee law enforcement records show the arrest Friday of Pelzer resident Joseph William Rosshirt on the charge of grand larceny.  The theft occurred February 23 after Toby Shaw, pastor of Harvest Time Ministries, walked into the church on the Wells Highway and discovered music and electronic equipment, worth more than $20 thousand dollars, was missing.  As a humanitarian gesture, the church had given Rosshirt a room to live in.
