Man charged with burglarizing Hammond home

Oconee Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a 21-year old man charged with burglary and larceny at the home of Angie and Paul Hammond—the parents of Zachary Hammond, who was shot fatally in a police shooting last month.  The Sheriff’s Office identified the man arrested and charged as Piedmont resident Nicholas Blake Garland.  He was booked into the county detention center during the midnight hour last night.  The crimes are alleged to have occurred at the Hammonds’ home on Echota Trail August 7.
