Man shot dead by police officer

A 19-year old Seneca man died last night at the scene of a police involved shooting.  The incident occurred around 8:20 in the parking lot of Hardee’s on By-Pass 123.  Coroner Karl Addis said the name of deceased is to be released later today.  Addis said, “The preliminary investigation indicates the deceased was attempting to evade a police stop in the Hardee’s parking lot; the officer felt threatened by the deceased who was driving his car toward the officer attempting to make the stop; the officer fired his weapon twice striking the deceased in the upper body.”  According to Addis, a drug investigation was ongoing at the time, and he is referring reporters to the police for further details about the investigation.  The state Law Enforcement Division is investigating, which Addis says is standard when police are involved.  An autopsy will take place.
