Mayfest dates announced

In spite of some bone-chilling temperatures of late, Walhalla Chamber of Commerce officials promise city leaders better times are ahead. The chamber hopes this year’s Mayfest will create a friendly and prosperous two days for all involved. Vanessa Penton, chamber executive director, announced at City Hall last night the 2013 event will run Friday and Saturday, May 10 and 11. For those two days, Penton asked the mayor and council to authorize the closing of a one-block section of Main Street, between Catherine and College.  Something new this year will be an “Art in Living” event on the lawn behind the chamber office to attract brew and winemakers to share their crafts.  According to Penton, the appropriate beer and wine permits have been applied for. Art in Living is planned for 4 to 8 p-m Saturday, May 11.
