Mayor optimistic for Westminster pool opening

After three “D-HEC” inspectors spent two hours looking at the pool, the Westminster mayor is optimistic that the municipal swimming pool can re-open in time for this season.  Mayor Brian Ramey cautioned, “It’s not 100% percent.”  But Ramey said the state inspectors on Wednesday found no major problems in the way of re-opening the pool.  “A lot of minor stuff,” Ramey told us in an interview yesterday.  City Council decided to close the pool in 2013 during a discussion of recreation priorities.  One factor then was the cost of an automatic lift that would enable the Westminster pool to meet the requirements of ADA—the federal law covering accessibility by those with handicaps.
