Mayor talks Streetscape

January 30, 2014

To the naked eye, little has been evident to show that Walhalla Streetscape is going to be a reality in 2014. But Mayor Danny Edwards does not rule out the possibility that the project can be done in time for this year’s Oktoberfest. In recent weeks, the contractor and the landscape engineers have been seen on Walhalla’s four-block section downtown. Of late, however, there have been a couple of closed door city council meetings. “We’re continuing to look at proposals as far as what we can budget, what we can afford…,” Edwards told 96.3/WGOG NEWS.” The mayor says it’s not just the street re-make that’s involved. “We’ve got water lines, sewer lines that are 60 years old that are going to be replaced in this. We’re trying to putting our power lines, as much as we can, underground,” he said.
