McConnell to headline event

South Carolina’s first-year lieutenant governor will headline an Oconee County event, designed to show off the expanded services now offered to senior citizens. Glenn McConnell cuts the ribbon at 10 tomorrow morning for a new wing at the Senior Solutions complex at the former Rosenwald School on Seneca’s Perry Avenue. The public is invited. Doug Wright, Senior Solutions executive director, says because the Commission on Aging is a state agency located within the Lt. Governor’s office in Columbia, McConnell will be especially interested in seeing services available to active senior citizens. Wright says the Oconee County facility serves hundreds of senior citizens a day and thousands a year with meals, activities, internet services and more.
