Medical call at the river

Responders gave a child medical treatment late yesterday afternoon at the Chattooga River, in the vicinity of Burrell’s Ford.  A report from county Emergency Services stated that limited information indicated the child fell a short distance from a waterfall in the wilderness.  Family members provided quick care to the child until help arrived.  The child was taken by GHS EMS to the Oconee hospital for what were called non-life threatening injuries. The following agencies responded to the incident: Mtn Rest Fire & Rescue, Oconee Emergency Services, GHS EMS, Jackson County (NC) Rescue Squad, and Oconee County Special Rescue Team.
