San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera and at least one of his handlers allegedly concocted a bizarre scheme to get him out of any punishment after he tested positive for use of the drug testosterone. The New York Daily News reports that the plot included buying a Web site and creating a fake advertisement to be featured on it. The ad would be for a nonexistent topical cream that they would then claim Cabrera took, not knowing that it would trigger a positive drug test. Federal investigators and Major League Baseball officials reportedly are investigating the alleged scheme. In the end, Cabrera did not appeal the decision to suspend him for 50 games, and released a statement accepting responsibility.
