Michael Gettys a 2nd round MLB pick

A high school outfielder drafted by the San Diego Padres has ties to Oconee County residents. Gainesville High School, Georgia standout Michael Gettys was the 51st player chosen in the second round of Major League Baseball’s draft of high school and collegiate players. He’s the grandson of Wayne and Donna Morton of Westminster and great grandson of W-C and Kathleen Patterson of Seneca. About Michael Gettys, there is the quote on the Padres’ website: “You’re looking at a guy who could have four plus-tools in power, speed, defense and arm,” said Padres scout Andrew Salvo, who recommended Gettys. “He’s an excellent athlete with plus-plus speed and arm and a potential plus-game power. He’s a high energy and hard-nosed player with very good makeup.”
