Microburst suspected near Westminster

An Oconee public safety responder says there is suspicion that in the storm that entered the county from Georgia on its way to Anderson this afternoon included a microburst–a column of sinking air caused by downdraft.  That’s the hunch of Shane Gibbs of Emergency Services, based on the reports of damage in the area of Tabor Road near Westminster.  Power lines and trees are on the ground and travel in that vicinity is precarious, at best.
