Minor bus accident injuries

March 12, 2013

Oconee School District officials say three students sent to the hospital after yesterday’s bus accident suffered minor injuries. A fourth student and the driver are OK, according to Dr. Michael Thorsland, assistant superintendent for operations. Thorsland went to the scene late yesterday afternoon to gather evidence of what was the third bus accident within the last year and a half. The scene was far western Oconee County, on the Unity Church Road, in the vicinity of where the state DOT is working on a bridge crossing Toxaway Creek. “Certainly, three buses on the side in a year and a half is alarming,” said Thorsland. But he and other district officials are grateful the accident wasn’t worse.
