Misuse of funds alleged at Clemson

The state police this morning announced the arrest of a Pickens County woman in a case alleging breach at trust at Clemson University.  SLED’s announcement states that Shana Lashay Grant, 34-year old Central resident, was arrested yesterday and charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent.  An arrest affidavit identifies Grant as having worked as the administrative assistant in the office of Communications Studies and alleges that she fraudulently used Clemson funds “to obtain 231 Apple computer devices, valued at approximately $216,164.15.”  It further alleges, “The defendant transferred the devices and/or their value to her personal use.”  The charge carries a potential penalty of 10 years in prison or a fine at the discretion of the court.
