MONDAY SPORTS: NCAA Tournament field set

Florida has been named the top seed in the men’s NCAA basketball tournament, joined by fellow Number 1 seeds Arizona, Wichita State and Virginia in the 68-team March Madness bracket released on Sunday. WichitaState is the first team to the enter the NCAA tournament undefeated since Nevada-Las Vegas in 1991. The defending champion, Louisville, drew a Number 4 seed. Play begins Tuesday with two games in Dayton, Ohio.

Wofford, the Southern Conference Tournament Champion, is a #15 seed in the Midwest Regional and will face number two seed Michigan in its opening game. The winner of that game will face the winner of the Texas-ArizonaState game in the next round.

Coastal Carolina is a number 16 seed in the East Regional. The Chanticleers, in the big dance by virtue of a Big South Tournament title last week, will face ACC regular season and tournament champion and number one seed Virginia Friday.

A two-year absence from postseason play ended Sunday when Clemson accepted a bid to compete in the 2014 National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The third-seeded Tigers host No. 6 seed GeorgiaState on Tuesday in a 9 p.m. game televised by ESPNU. Clemson is returning to the NIT for the first time since the 2006-07 team advanced to the championship game in Madison Square Garden. Elsewhere, Georgia will host Vermont in round one play Wednesday at Stegeman coliseum in Athens.

In the NBA Sunday, Kemba Walker scored 21 points and Al Jefferson added 16 of his 20 in the second half to help the Charlotte Bobcats beat the Milwuakee Bucks 101-92 for their fourth straight victory.

Furman’s Sunday baseball series finale finale versus Hofstra has been postponed and rescheduled for Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Latham Stadium. The two teams were scheduled to play at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, but rain forced a first postponement until 5:00 p.m. today and now to 4:00 p.m. Monday.
