More trouble for Oconee mom

An Oconee mother arrested in Idaho and charged with custodial interference has been re-arrested and this time charged with removing her ankle monitor. Laverne Marie Bennett was jailed at the start of Mother’s Day weekend after deputies, reacting to a tamper alarm, went to an address near Westminster and found Bennett after a son had told them that their mother had walked into the woods. They quoted Bennett as saying she used a kitchen knife to remove the monitor. An appearance now is planned before a circuit judge and Bennett could see her bond revoked. “The first few minutes in a case like this are so important,” says Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. “Everyone worked together. The monitoring company did their job which allowed our officers to arrive on scene in minutes and locate this individual. I also want to thank the Westminster Police Department for their assistance in the search for Laverne Bennett.”
