Mother and son sentenced by judge

A mother and a son have entered guilty pleas in the Oconee General Sessions Court—as part of a plea week scheduled by the office of Chrissy Adams, 10th Circuit Solicitor. The sentence received by the son was harsher than the one for the mother. Judge Alex Macaulay today accepted Norma Gunn’s plea of guilty to non-violent burglary second degree. Deputy Solicitor David Wagner said Mrs. Gunn was being prosecuted under the principle of “the hand of one, the hand of all.” The mother’s participation in the crime was providing transportation for her son and others to and from the scene of a home burglary in Mountain Rest. She was given a five-year prison sentence, suspended to one year of probation. Her son, Aaron Gunn, pleaded guilty yesterday to burglary first degree and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, suspended on the service of six years.
