Mountain Rest mystery!

Months after approval was received, a Mountain Rest communications tower stands 250 feet into the air—but still no service. And the lack of cell phone service from that tower has prompted inquiries to the office of the Oconee Board of Zoning Appeals. The tower sits along Morehead Place Road behind the Mountain Rest Post Office. Josh Stephens, zoning administrator, says his office has been unsuccessful in obtaining information from the Michigan real estate company, which represented the Verizon communications company before the appeals board. But Stephens says he’s going to stay on top of the issue and will publicly report his findings once he receives them.
