Mountain top home fire

August 13, 2013

Fire fighters battled a mountain-top home fire last evening in the Holly Springs Community of Pickens County, off highway 178. Several Oconee fire fighters, trucks, and equipment were deployed to give assistance to the effort to stop the fire. Charlie King, Oconee County Fire Chief, said the contingent from his county were there for about three hours, beginning shortly after 5 p-m. It was an example of one county helping another, as it was over the weekend when Pickens County resources were used to fight a Lake Keowee home fire in Oconee County.
