Municipal leaders make their choice

August 12, 2014

The mayor pro-tem of Westminster, Bill Brockington, will represent the Oconee Municipal Association on the board of directors of the South Carolina Appalachian Council of Governments. County municipal leaders say it’s an important position because those who serve can be influential in securing government grants for local improvement projects. Brockington, a retiree, is eager to lend himself to the position which will require one day of month of meetings at the A-COG headquarters in Greenville. At an Oconee Municipal Association meeting last night, some Seneca members said they are hopeful that Brockington will avail himself of the advice and expertise that former Seneca Councilman Ernest Riley can provide. Riley formerly served as the Oconee Municipal Association representative to A-COG. He recently returned to the government service board as a regional representative.
