Municipal leaders see strength in numbers

Part of last night’s meeting of the Oconee Municipal Association was spent by the mayors and the council members simply getting to know each other. They agreed it has been far too long since they last met. Seneca Mayor Alexander, Walhalla Mayor Edwards and the others left Seneca City Hall last night in agreement that their cities can be served better by regular meetings—at least quarterly in the opinion of Seneca Councilman Joel Ward. The group decided to do just that beginning Monday, September 29—a meeting that Westminster City Administrator Jeff Lord volunteered to host on behalf of his city. Oconee’s three largest municipalities—Seneca, Walhalla, and Westminster—were represented. Those there last night are hopeful that the county’s other towns, Salem and West Union, will send representatives next time.
