Museum project A-OK with Seneca regulatory board

After the architect made changes, the plans for a new Seneca museum received approval last night from a city regulatory board.  After a short hearing, at which no one voiced any opposition, the Board of Architectural Review approved a certificate of appropriateness for the BerthaLeeStricklandCulturalMuseum at 208-210 W. S. 2nd Street.  Board member Dr. John Martin, curator of the nearby LunneyMuseum, recused himself from the consideration and vote.  The museum, which will sit to the rear of the LunneyMuseum and front South Second, will depict the city’s African-American history and culture.  Before the start of last night’s hearing, planning and community development director Ed Halbig announced that Shelby Henderson joined the city staff a week ago in a dual role as StricklandMuseum manager and transit grant coordinator.
