Neighbor dispute heard by Oconee jury

A dispute between neighbors near West Union ended with a guilty verdict and the sentencing of the man who stood trial this week in the Oconee General Sessions Court.  After saying it’s lucky no one was killed, Judge Scott Sprouse ordered Robbie Franklin James to serve two years in prison with the conditions that he undergo anger management, substance abuse counseling, and have no further contact with the neighbors involved in the incident.  The jury in the case returned a guilty verdict against James, charged with pointing/presenting a firearm.  James, who did not testify in his defense, was adamant while standing before the judge that what happened was not his fault.  “I’m not what they make me out to be,” James told the judge.  Defense lawyer Danny Day said James receives general disability benefits and if he must serve a sentence longer than 90 days, he’ll lose the benefit that he relies on to support his wife.
