New deal for Hangar III tabled

At least for now, there’s no new deal between Oconee County and the limited liability company Hangar III.  At the start of last night’s County Council meeting, Administrator Scott Moulder announced “new developments” which he said he could not discuss in open session and requested that first reading of an ordinance to reform and re-state a ground lease agreement with the airplane owners be tabled.  That lease agreement dates back to 2001 and has been a sore point with some current county officials.  According to the pre-meeting agenda, the ordinance also carries “a release and stipulation” to end a legal squabble over whether back taxes are owed for a plane at the Oconee Regional Airport.
