New drug sweep underway!

The scourge of drugs is under attack today in one Oconee County municipality. The police are attempting to sweep drug dealers from the streets of Seneca. Chief John Covington issued this statement to 96.3/WGOG NEWS: “We have kicked off another sweep of drug dealers to be arrested as of 7 am this morning. Our officers are being assisted by members of the Oconee Sheriff’s Office. As of 10 am we have incarcerated 12 suspects and actively seeking the others. This will continue throughout the day and into the night if necessary.” The sweep arises from a 5 month undercover investigation by the Narcotics Unit of the Seneca Police. The police are armed with 44 warrants for the arrest of 25 people. The charges range from distribution of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana and prescription drugs.
