New Fire Station Unveiled

Oconee County will “uncouple the hose” on a new fire substation. The public is invited to the grand opening of the new Holly Springs Fire Substation. The station will serve residents and business located along Highway 76 between Westminster and Long Creek. Holly Springs Fire Substation #24 is the first of eight stations to be built as part of the county’s comprehensive Fire Service Improvement Plan. The plan calls for new stations to be placed in communities that are beyond five miles of currently operating station. The new facility will provide faster response time and aid in lower insurance premiums.
Designed and constructed by J.Davis Construction of Westminster, the station was designed to be functional and low-cost to maintain and expandable for future needs. The station will be operated by the 25-plus members of the Long Creek Fire Department. The new facility will house a single engine, water tanker, and brush truck. The public is invited to attend an open house at the facility this Sunday from 2pm-4pm. There will be open tours, fire prevention activities, fire truck displays, and refreshments. The new station is located at 11095 Long Creek Highway, Westminster.
