New jail set for final inspection

Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says he and his staff are hopeful that July 17 is going to produce the approval needed to allow for the opening of Oconee’s new $16.2 million jail. On that Friday the state Department of Corrections is scheduled to conduct what Crenshaw says is to be the final inspection of the jail. If a go ahead is given, Crenshaw predicts, the jail can be opened by mid to late August.
