New Jersey man arrested in Oconee

A New Jersey man believed to have been staying temporarily in Townville awaiting a ride back to the Garden State has been arrested and charged with stealing a car. The Oconee Sheriff’s Office has identified 32-year old David Allen Simmons Jr., as charged with grand larceny in the theft last month of a 2007 Dodge Nitro from Shady Lane, Townville near the Anderson County line. The Sheriff’s Office quoted the victim of the theft as saying she was told by state troopers that her car was found wrecked May 4 at South Carolina 24 and the Harry Davis Road in Anderson County.
